News. This newsletter is for the users and
suppliers of dampers and equipment for flue and process
gases.

A new directory has been added to the
Damper Don Website.
Each firm listed on the
directory
North American Damper Companies received an advance
copy for review and comment. The firms have
approximately 150 words for an introduction to their
company, and contact information is provided.
There is also coding provided for their core products
and estimated size of the firm in annual sales.
Hyperlinks are provided on the company logo, and web
site address. This list is a free service and we
welcome any input or comments.
Similar
information is being collected for
Foreign
Damper Companies. Input for this list is also
desired. A
historical
list is also being created to address the question "What
every happen to ....". It is interesting to note
how many firms are connected in history and the name
changes that have occurred.

Bogus Bearings Seized
In a
press release posted on its website, Swedish bearing
maker SKF Group reports that over 30 tons of bogus
bearings carrying the SKF name were confiscated from a
non-authorized dealer in the Czech Republic. The
company points out that the manufacture and trade of
counterfeit products is a growing global problem.

As slips, trips and
falls continue to represent significant exposures
and hazards in the workplace, the American Society
of Safety Engineers (ASSE) recently announced the
approval of three new fall protection standards by
the American National Standards Institute (ANSI),
aimed at preventing these hazards in the workplace.
